Shower Safe Jewellery

One of the amazing factors of our Lion Wild jewellery is the fact that every piece is shower safe jewellery. This really does take the hassle out of things as it means that you do not need to take your jewellery off when jumping in the shower of even swimming in the ocean. This was a really important factor to us as this is who the Lion Wild girl is, she has her pieces that she loves and never wants to take them off!

But let's take a little look at what this means so that you can know which jewellery is shower safe in the future. The answer to this questions depends on a few things, the most important being what your jewellery is made of.

Materials that are okay to shower with:

  • gold
  • silver
  • platinum
  • palladium
  • stainless steel
  • titanium

Materials not safe to shower with and may turn your skin green:

  • copper
  • brass
  • bronze
  • other base metals

Now some jewellery may be gold plated, which is great! But you also need to make sure that the metal underneath it is a metal in the top list. The reason for this is because if the plating washes off a little, it will expose the base layer and either be okay, or turn your skin green.

All of Lion Wild's materials are from the top list so whether you are wearing gold or silver, they are shower safe jewellery and will not tarnish.

Wearing jewellery in the ocean is absolutely fine but it is important to know that salt water and the ocean are corrosive and can be a harsh environment for your Lion Wild jewellery. So, although your jewellery will not tarnish or turn your skin green, the gold plating can fade a lot faster in this environment becoming lighter and revealing the silver underneath. Don't worry though! Not for a long time.

The thing that you should be careful of it is harsh products in the shower. Tap water will rarely have affect or react with your jewellery. That being said, if you shower of take a bath and submerge your jewellery in harsher chemicals this can compromise the jewellery.

Swimming with Lion Wild jewellery is not recommended as you will be coming into contact with water that has chemicals like chlorine that will interact with you jewellery more dramatically than fresh water and soap.

I hope that this little article has helped you not only with information about your Lion Wild items but also for selecting jewellery in the future to ensure that it does not tarnish or colour your skin
