Article: How to care for your jewellery

How to care for your jewellery

With anything you love, it’s important to take care of it and the same applies to your precious jewellery. We’re here to give you some tips to ensure your pieces stay in picture-perfect condition.

Just like taking off your makeup each night, we recommend taking off your jewellery to sleep to ensure it does not get tangled or scratched. In addition to this, ensure your jewellery is kept in a cool dry place. As much as we love a cute jewellery tray when kept in the bathroom, harsh chemicals found in hairsprays and other spray products can damage your jewellery. All of our jewellery comes in a little pouch, this is the perfect place to keep your jewellery and use when travelling too.

Products such as perfume can affect the plating of your jewellery. To avoid this, add perfume first, then followed by your jewellery when getting ready in the morning. If you find your pieces come into contact with any sticky or fragrant products, simply give them a wipe with a jewellery polishing cloth.

Let’s deep dive into when you should and shouldn’t wear your favourite Lion Wild pieces.

OCEAN

Wearing jewellery in the ocean is absolutely fine but it is important to know that salt water and the ocean are corrosive and can be a harsh environment for your Lion Wild jewellery. So, although your jewellery will not tarnish or turn your skin green, the gold plating can fade a lot faster in this environment becoming lighter and revealing the silver underneath. Don't worry though! Not for a long time.

SHOWER

The thing that you should be careful of is the harsh products in the shower. Tap water will rarely have effect or react with your jewellery. That being said, if you shower or take a bath and submerge your jewellery in harsher chemicals this can compromise the jewellery, so it is our recommendation that you take your pieces off when showering to preserve them.

POOL

Swimming with Lion Wild jewellery is not recommended as you will be coming into contact with water that has chemicals like chlorine that will interact with your jewellery more dramatically than fresh water and soap.

We hope you treasure your Lion Wild pieces for many years to come. You can shop our best sellers here.
